This is a platform where chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. from all over the state of California come together for an annual legislative conference to discuss current social action issues. This year’s themes are “Our Future Is Not For Sale: Tools for Human Trafficking And Exploitation Prevention” and “Breaking The Chain: The Power of Advocacy And Action”. Delta Days at the State Capitol has been held in Sacramento since the 1980’s. Delta Youth State was born as part of Delta Days at the Capitol with our very own Soror Gloria Robertson serving as the first Youth State Coordinator. This is a day dedicated to the youth to show them the State Capitol and educate them on the entire legislative process. The Delta Youth State was held on April 25, 2015 at the Capitol. On that Sunday, members conducted action work sessions and concluded the weekend with scheduled visits with legislators on that Monday. The Elk Grove Patch has a more in depth article regarding this efficacious event.
