President’s Message

Greetings Sorors and Community Members,

Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit the official website of the Sacramento Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. We are a proud, prominent and progressive chapter in the Fabulous Farwest Region, serving the greater Sacramento Area for nearly 70 years. I welcome you to take a virtual tour of the chapter and learn of the activities, partnerships and programs the Sacramento Alumnae Chapter is involved with. Our chapter programs are centered around our National Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

Chartered in 1950, seven visionary women following the footsteps of our 22 Founders saw a need within the Sacramento community to uphold the sorority’s principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. We are a chapter of over 100 professional, highly-educated, vigilant, dynamic, intentional, and dedicated women who have been called to serve our community. It is my honor to stand with my sisters and serve as the chapter President. I embrace my theme of “We Are Our Sisters’ Keeper” and hold that near to my heart.

The Sacramento Alumnae Chapter has implemented several noteworthy programs addressing the needs of the community. Such programs include:

  • Annual Financial Youth Summit – Designed to educate teenagers on fiscal responsibilities.
  • Town Hall Meetings – Includes panel guests from legislators, law enforcement, educators, community leaders and members from the healthcare industry addressing the immediate needs of the community and leaving attendees with a path forward to institute change.
  • Delta GEMS (Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully) Institute and Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy – Mentorship programs designed for young ladies between ages 11-18, and provide life skills, build self-esteem and to increase cultural enrichment.

While visiting the website, my hope is you leave with a sense of pride and are enlightened by our accomplishments within and impact on the Sacramento Area community. Feel free to support or donate toward any of our chapter programs. If you are a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, incorporated we welcome you with open arms and invite you to join us at our monthly chapter meetings or any public event.

Regards,
Sandra Patterson
