The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a unique program designed for young girls ages 11-14 and named after educator and civil rights activist Dr. Betty Shabazz.
The Delta Academy was created to enhance or spark career interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (S.T.E.A.M.) where minority women are scarcely represented.
Themed “The Transformation of me-Knowing me, Developing me, and Preparing me” is intended to reflect the current issues and trends of middle school-aged girls.
Academy activities are centered on building character, self-esteem, and giving back to the community while also incorporating elements of S.T.E.A.M. Through the use of interactive activities, field trips, and guest speakers, in a positive and encouraging environment.
Meetings are held 1st Saturday of each month.
